.ITP projects
quakepresence ('03) is a networked object that listens to all the earthquakes that happen
around the world. When ever there is an earth quake a sand pattern is created relative
to the strength of that earth quake. Time and location of that earth quake is reported
on a LCD screen on the side. The sand patterns are created by low frequency sound
waves ranging from 35 to 60 Hz. Earth quake information is taken from a government
website and is parsed and sent to quakepresence through the internet.
I use a BX24 chip and a TCP/IP Ethernet connector called the Cobox inside
quakepresence. The data retrieving/parsing/transmitting program is written in Director.
